Silverstone - Race 5 Report

Silverstone Circuit, Northampton

Race 5 - Saturday 29th September

It was a fantastic days racing for me although I struggled with my foot injury. The team took part in a very wet test day on Friday the 28th of September which gave us a chance to learn the track. I was able to complete 2 and a half out of the 4 test sessions and the rest of the time I rested my foot.

At the track for 7.45 am sharp! It wasn’t raining, which was a good start to the day. First qualifying session at 9am. The track was still damp so we took it easy at first. Ended up qualifying in 9th place which wasn’t great, about 5 seconds off leader pace.

The race started at 1pm. The track was dry and visibility was good. Had an ok start from the line but coming into the 2nd corner I got pushed onto the kerb and lost time. 2 cars passed me at this point and gained time ahead of me, leaving me with no one behind me and no one infront of me. Pretty quiet race for me, I ended up cruising around on my own. This did give me a good chance to learn the track a bit more but I wasn’t exhilarated like I usually am in a race as I wasn’t battling with any other drivers!

Race 5: Qualified 9th. Finished 11th.
